The Adventure of Everest Base Camp and Kalapattha

(Lukla in/out by flight)

Day 01

Arrive in Kathmandu international airport. Airport reception and transfer to hotel Radisson. Welcome drinks is followed by room check in procedure. Free time onwards. Before dinner a short time will be taken to introduce the Guide and staffs. Meantime a brief checking will be made about the rain wear, clothing and other necessary items. After this a short walk to Nepali Chulo one of the most relic restaurants in Kathmandu. Nepali delectation while the folk dances as a cultural glance are presented.

Day 02

Morning breakfast and drive to airport on its domestic wings with your trekking guide. Fly to Lukla (2830m.) where meet the other staffs and crew members. It may take few minutes to allocate your luggage to the crew members until then you can enjoy with the first cup of tea or coffee of the Khumbu region. Today’s trek is regarded an easy one. It does not climb so much nor does it descend so hardly. It is just a terrain walk crossing some monsoonal streams. Only 4 to 5 hours walking to Phakding (2680m.).

Day 03

Morning breakfast around 7:30am. After breakfast trek begins through a pleasant village of Toktok and Benkar and then to Chumao and Jomsalle. From Jorsalle a short descend to the river and enter the market of Manjo – this is the lunch place. After lunch a harder climb to Namche. On this day about 7 to 8 hrs walking. If the weather is clear, the top of the Everest and Lhotse are seen.

Overnight at Namche (3450m.) at hotel: Holiday Inn.

Day 04

Breakfast around 7:30am and then take an easy climbing to Syangboche (1hr 20min). Passing the few houses located by the Syangboche airstrip (3830m.), arrive to the Khumjung Village (50 min.) observation and monastery visit which is located at 3790m. For lunch we arrive to Mong La (1 hr 40 min). Lunch at Mong La (3915m.) and then descend to Phortse Thanga (45 min) and then a short climb to Phortse village (1 hr). Overnight at (3870m.) Fly 19 Lodge at.

Day 05

Morning breakfast and then trek leaves for Upper Pangboche (3985m./3hrs 45 min.). Here take lunch and trek forwards for Dingboche (4260m./4 hrs 30min.). This day will have a wonderful close view of Thamserku, Kangtega,  Amadablam etc. And including many other peaks there will be 360 degree panoramic view from Kwangde on your rare to Mt. Eveerest and Khumbutse on your front. And on the left hand side the glorious peak is from the Tsolatse and Tawache.

Day 06trek to Lobuche (3940m./5hrs 30min.). View of Makalu one of the 8 thousand meter peaks.

Day 07trek to Gorakshep (5100m./4hrs. 30min) and visit to Kalapatthar (5545m./4hrs) and then trek back to Lobuche (4hrs 30min).

Day 08

After breakfast, trek back to Thug La (40min) and then to Pheriche (1hr 20min). From Pheriche to Pangboche (2 hrs). Lunch here. After Pangboche for 3 hrs arrive to Diboche or in 3 hrs 20min to Tyngboche (3867m.) by the most respected monastery of the region.

Day 09

Morning breakfast and descend to Phunki Tnaga (50 min). From Phunki to Kyangjuma 1 hr a steeper climbing and from here to Namche 1 hr easy trek. For lunch arrive at Manjo in 45 min. from Namche. After lunch a short climb to Jorsalle for 30 min. From here to Phakding 45 min and from Phakding to Lukla 4 hrs.

Day 10

Morning fly to Kathmandu (for 30 min.).  Upon arrival transfer to Hotel Radisson (15 min), refreshing and enjoy lavish farewell lunch. Then drive to airport to fly to Bangkok.

Notes:

1.Who is it fit for?

It is fit to everybody who has a good stamina of walking ups and downs. Physically fit, healthy and have little experienced on outdoors back at home can take this trip. The day to day itinerary arrangement is just a little bit longer than the normal trek course. The change what is on the above itinerary made has made still it a sound, safe and attractive.

2.What are the difficulties?

This day-to-day itinerary arrangement possesses a number of ups and downs. On the 6th day starting of your trek from Kathmandu elevation1350 meter, you will be admiring at 5545 meter elevation of Kalapatthar. It will be like a very quick changing for your body’s different parts such the abdominal system, respiratory systems etc. Sleeplessness may be experienced.

3.We take care of you!!

You will be looked after so well everyday/every moment. You will be advised to take the best meal as per your physical condition. Hot drinks and soups are some kind of best drinks to revive your stamina and refilling energy in your body. Pulse-beat (Heart-beat) of your body which also ensures about the level of oxygen in the body is always available with us. There will be Oxygen gas supplement anytime you need to use it.

5.Services:

airport pick up and transfers, Hotel Radisson 1nt before the trek and day use after the trek, Tea-House based full board trek as per the above itinerary arrangement, trek and national park entrance permit, Kathamdu – Lukla – Kathmandu airfare, guide, necessary porters, etc.

6.Necessary preparation/arrangement from your side:

The above itinerary arrangement is one of the shortest optional itineraries to reach to the Everest Base Camp and Kalapatthar. The overnight stopping places have been selected as the best being cautioned about the AMS etc. These are the best be selected for acclimatization. For this route within this time-frame, there could be no other better itinerary arrangement than this one.

Excellently warm clothing, good rainwear, comfortable walking/trekking shoes, enough room for day use water etc. are some normal requisitions that are being made mostly. But for this particular trek, few extra things would be requested to prepare such as flexible hours of walking attitude and the most importantly, please assure yourself a minimum impact if incase the weather makes any flight cancel or delay. “… on 06 April 2006 I had to be stopped there in Lukla for almost 24 hours with my Japanese clients to get  to Kathmandu on a clear morning”  - Krishna Dahal.
